Along with her boyfriend Alex Rodriguez, Jennifer Lopez has donated a sum of $1 million to the Prostate Cancer Foundation. On Monday, the superstar couple had been invited to attend a gala dinner in New York City. At the event, Alex, the former baseball ace addressed the crowd and revealed that all those sitting at their table had agreed to make a collective contribution for funding research into the cure and prevention of prostate cancer.
A smiling Lopez stood by his side as he said that their table had made a contribution of $1 million and appreciated the generosity of other philanthropists. Whoopi Goldberg also attended the event and Jennifer Hudson also performed there. This is the most recent act of charity that the loved-up couple has made after they decided to go public with their romance in March of this year.
Comedian Kevin Hart had made a social media call in August, 2017 after the widespread destruction of Hurricane Harvey. He had called out to his famous peers and friends and requested them to step up and help people in the time of their need in areas that had been severely impacted like Houston, Texas. Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez had answered his call with a pledge of $25,000 each.
Later on, Jennifer had made another $1 million donation personally for helping rebuild her own family’s city, Puerto Rico, after it had been devastated in September, 2017 by Hurricane Maria. Last month, she also worked with Marc Anthony, her ex-husband, and Alex for staging a TV gig to raise funds. It was called One Voice: Somos Live! A Concert for Disaster Relief. They ended up raising a sum of $35 million for hurricane survivors across the Caribbean and the US and also those people in Mexico who had suffered in areas hit by recent earthquakes.
