Sources of Environmentally Friendly Energy

Green energy describes the sources of renewable power that is environmentally friendly. When compared with fossil fuels such as natural gas or oil, renewable energy is more sustainable as it is taken from inexhaustible sources like geothermal, water (hydro), the sun (solar), biomass, and wind. The best part of renewable sources is that these occur naturally and so, are extremely viable.

Thanks to their sustainability, the sources of green energy can be relied upon to produce long-term, efficient, and cost-effective energy. Renewable energy is considered to be environmentally friendly energy because of its sources that are generally nonpolluting and clean to use. They do not create greenhouse gases or emit toxic waste when used in the system to produce electricity.

Solar power is generated from the sun arrays, in the case of solar hot water systems or electricity generation. For this, solar panels are mounted on the top of the building to create a free path for the sun’s heat. Solar power is a new technology that uses photovoltaic cells contained in the solar panel to generate the electricity. As sunlight falls on these cells, they produce unobstructed electrical energy.

The process of producing wind energy involves the force of the wind for driving a wind turbine which produces energy in the conventional way.  Just like a common windmill, an electric generator is used instead of the water pump. The wind generator uses a completely natural way to create renewable energy which is pollution free and clean.

Hydroelectric energy has been a very popular renewable energy source, particularly in those areas where other energy sources are not sustainable. This type of electricity is created by the force of water falling over and driving a water generator. The flowing water spins the blades of the turbine. Like wind energy, the success of hydro system is subject to the availability of good stream of flowing water. In most small scale hydroelectric power systems, water wheels are used to create electricity rather than using major water diversions or a dam.

Hybrid energy supply systems are basically considered to be a perfect blend of sources of wind, hydro, and solar energies. Mainly made up from wind turbines and solar panels, these systems are capable of integrating more conventional generating tools such as battery banks and diesel generators. They use a mature and well-tested technology to function and create electricity. Hybrid power supply systems are flexible and relatively easy to upgrade as needed.

This is another renewable energy that has been largely utilized around the world because of its availability and ease of use. Biomass energy is an efficient utilization of power withdrawal from biomass sources and the availability of waste as bio fuel which has dramatically reduced environmental concerns emerging from biomass fuel and causing air pollution.

There is a range of possibilities to implement a renewable or green energy system, including the basic DIY system and completely professional systems. In the years to come, it is expected to hear more and more about these energy systems because the power bills continue to increase and the cost of alternative power will begin to look really appealing.
