Next year, the two-time Oscar winner will make her return to Broadway in a revival of the masterpiece titled “Long Day’s Journey Into Night” by American playwright Eugene O’Neill. The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Roundabout Tree Company. The play that won the Pulitzer Prize would be Jessica Lange’s third time on Broadway and will be part of the 50th anniversary season of the theatre company.
The 66 year-old actress also starred in ‘A Streetcar named Desire’ in 1992 and also in 2005’s ‘The Glass Menagerie’. Previews of “Long Day’s Journey Into Night” will begin on March 31st, 2016 and will open officially on April 18th, according to the details provided by the company.
The actress will be reprising her role as Mary Tyrone, the morphine-addicted matriarch, from the London stage production made in 2000. Her performance got her a nomination for an Oliver Award. She will be starring opposite the 65 year-old Irish Actor Gabriel Byrne in the semi-autobiographical drama that was penned by Eugene O’Neill.
Jessica Lange won an Oscar for supporting actress in the movie ‘Tootsie’ in 1983 and worked opposite Dustin Hoffman while her role in 1994’s Blue Sky landed her the best actress Academy Award.
