Commonly referred to as a romper or jumper, playsuits are a fun and comfortable fashion piece which joins the top and the bottom together to create one single article of clothing. While they can look cute and endearing, almost all of us have witnessed romper-clad women that just didn’t look quite right. Here are 3 do’s when buying playsuits so that you don’t make the same mistake:
Buy the Right Size
While you may be able to get away with wearing a size too big or too small in some clothing, you need to get the sizing right with a playsuit. A good rule to keep in mind is that the fabric should stay loose and draping when it is cinched in at the waist.
Consider the Length
Playsuits come in a variety of lengths, from super short to floor length pieces. For the most part; only very tall women with long legs are able to successfully pull off the floor length rompers without looking dowdy or dated. For those of us of average height or shorter, definitely stick with a romper that stops just above the knee.
Women also need to consider the sleeve length. A long sleeved playsuit is great for almost all women, particularly those who are trying to hide their arms. Those with more shapely arms or who aren’t afraid to flaunt it, however, can choose from halters, tube top, or sleeveless rompers.
Don’t Be Afraid Of Patterns
It’s a great idea to always first buy one different piece of clothing in a solid color, but that doesn’t mean that you should shy away from patterns. If you’re conscious about your appearance in patterns, then stick to smaller prints, color-blocking rompers or look for playsuits that incorporate just a few subtle splashes of color.
