MTV Movie Awards 2016

On Saturday night, MTV celebrated the 25th anniversary of its . In a change from the previous years, the 2016 Movie were conducted on Saturday evening, 9th of April, but were scheduled to appear on TV on Sunday, 10th of April. Viewers who saw the televised were treated to new sneak peeks of movies like Suicide Squad, Captain America: Civil War and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Hosted by Kevin Hart and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, the MTV Movie Awards celebrated some of the biggest box office hits of the previous year.

The Force seemed to be working really strong on Saturday night as Star Wars: The Force Awakens managed to blast all other movies to wind up as the big winner of the night. The seventh movie in the Star Wars franchise was able to secure about 11 nominations in all and won three of them. The other big winners of the night included Deadpool, which also took home two awards as well as Pitch Perfect 2. Melissa McCarthy also made history as she became the first-ever woman to get the Comedic Genius Award. Will Smith was the recipient of the highest honor of the MTV Movie Awards, which is The Generation Award.

Apart from handing out trophies, the MTV Movie Awards boasted performances by some big names such as Halsey and Ariana Grande. There were also lots of presenters who graced the stage such as Kendrick Lamar, Jessica Chastain, Olivia Munn, Zack Efron, Seth Rogen, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth and Gigi Hadid.
