8 Simple Ways To Cure Cracked Heels At Home

1. Try fruit mask

Fruits like banana, papaya, avocado and pineapple have plant enzymes and various other minerals that help in healing cracked heels. To make a fruit mask mash one banana and mix it with mashed avocado. Now add some mashed coconut flesh to it and mix them to make a thick paste. Apply this mask evenly on your heels and other dry areas of your feet. Let it stay from 15-20 minutes and wash with water. Repeat this every day until the cracks heal completely.

2. Exfoliate with milk and honey

Milk and honey can work wonder in keeping your feet soft and prevent dryness, which is one of the main reasons for cracked heels. Take a soaking tub and pour 2 cups of milk in it. Now add about 1 cup of honey and mix well until the honey dissolves completely in the milk. Soak your heels in the mixture for about 20 minutes and massage the heels after 10 minutes of soaking when they are still in the tub. Once done, wash your feet with lukewarm water. Follow this exfoliating regime regularly to soften the dead skin cells and get rid of them easily.

3. Scrub with rice flour

This remedy helps in sloughing off the dry and dead skin cells revealing a softer skin in heels. Take some coarsely ground rice flour and mix it with apple cider vinegar and honey to make a thick paste. Apply this paste on your heel and let it stay for 10 minutes. Start scrubbing off the dry skin by slowly massaging the heels. Wash off with water.

4. Massage with olive oil

Olive oil is a great moisturizer and helps in keeping skin soft and free from damage. Massaging your feet and the cracked heels with olive oil before going to bed may help in cleaning and softening the dry skin. Wear a pair of socks to lock the moisture. You may also make a homemade foot cream by mixing olive oil with equal quantity of water and a few drops of lemon essential oil. Apply this foot cream 3-4 times a day to heal the cracks.

5. Vaseline and lemon remedy

This is a very effective remedy, if done on a regular basis and may help in getting rid of cracked heels quickly. To start with, clean your foot and soak it in lukewarm water for about 20-25 minutes. Once the skin becomes soft, take your feet out of the soak and pat dry. Now apply a mixture of one teaspoon of Vaseline and two teaspoon of lemon juice on the cracks. Massage it gently so that it gets completely absorbed in the skin and leave it overnight.

6. Use Jojoba oil and oatmeal

Jojoba oil is a wonderful moisturizer whereas oatmeal helps in scrubbing off the dead skin cells in a gentle way. To make the mixture, take powdered oatmeal of about 1 teaspoon and pour some jojoba oil to make a thick paste. Apply this paste on the cracked heels and let it stay for 30 minutes. Rinse with water and pat dry. You may also use coconut oil, almond oil or sesame oil in place of jojoba oil according to your preference.

7. Soak in white vinegar

Take a tub half filled with water, and to it add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar. Soak your feet in the solution for 5-10 minutes and scrub the cracked skin while soaking. Rinse you feet with plain water and pat dry. Apply a moisturizer or massage with a natural oil of your choice to lock the softness. Though this remedy is highly effective in reducing cracked heels, do not do this for more than 2 times a week. Since white vinegar is acidic, it can be harsh on your skin if not diluted properly or if used frequently. Also do not soak your feet in vinegar solution for more than 10 minutes as it can strip off oil from the skin making it dry.

8. Moisturize with glycerin and rosewater
